Computer jobs?

im 16 and i know python programming language and i'm working on C++. My school only has like 1 computer class(i never heard about it till recently so i cant take it) and then another class that is called "energy and power" where you use the QBasic language(which sucks) and you learn to fix computer hardware. So i'm taking that now. I wanna get a job programming or other computer job (preferably in the Video game industry). So my question is where would i go from here? Online college?

Computer jobs?
" QBasic language(which sucks"

nothing wrong with qbasic. There are some nice pic(microcomputer) compilers.

If you want to program you're going to need a 4 year degree. It's going to be a hard life as jobs like this are being outsource to people with masters willing to work for a lot less.

Remember to take 3d graphics on top of programming you're going to need to know how to do both in the gaming world.
Reply:Your best bet would be to attend a 4 year university majoring in Computer Science. You can specialize in specific items such as imagery, video, and other video related programming.

Don't do online school, not very much credibility.

Some of the technical schools can be good but as long as it is a big one such as Devry or MIT.
Reply:Well for one thing, you need high credentials. Especially for Software, are you doing good in school, If so than that gives you a better chance to get into a good college. You should probably go somewhere in the silicon valley. They have great achievements in the programing field and can serve a lot to you.
Reply:I'm a VB.NET software developer, 23, and just graduated last May. I was scared as hell before getting my first job where I'm at now. The best thing is to know Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, as many companies are using it and this is where most of the jobs are. From this, you can use Java, C++, C#, or VB with it. C++ seems to be the most popular for gaming I believe. VB, C#, Java will get you a good job as well as knowing about database development. Check out the link below, for free, downloadable installations of Visual Studio....you can do TONS of stuff with the free versions. Also, search careerbuilder.com for jobs and see what the popular languages are and what skills you need to go along with them. And above all, go to a 4 year college and do an internship! The internships will help tremendously when you go job-hunting after graduation.
