My major was electrical and computer engineering . I am looking for a technical /programming job .
Listed below are the only courses that I took in computer science .
Programming 1 ( with c )
Programming 2 ( with C++)
Computer architecture.
Discrete structures
Data Structures ( with java ) %26amp;
Operating Systems
All the rest were Math, English and Electrical engineering stuff..
do you think i can get a job in the software field ?
Can I have a career in Programming ( Software engineering )?
You can if you're willing to work at it, but lots of software engineering is being outsourced to India, where they can pay much less and where the programming gets done overnight while we sleep in the U.S.
I had a degree in information systems, and I very much liked programming. The majority of the job interviews I landed were more network administration jobs, which is something I don't want to do. One company offered me a job in a programming related field, but then they cancelled their training program. I know they were hiring people outside the U.S. and bringing them here, and that was in the late 90s. So...it can be hard to get a good job without experience, and it can be hard to get experience wtihout a good job. If you have real talent, and can create unique apps that fill needs, you could make a name for yourself and get a good job. You might need to expand on your education, and finding an entry level position can be difficult. Continuing your education might help you find an internship that you could turn into a career, which might be easier than a traditional job search.
Reply:Yes you can!especially if you really like programming! I remember one of my friend that he is also an engineering graduate but shift his career in programming and he his now very successful in his field. Just love your work and know what you want and things will paid off...
I remember before that my professor in programming was very delightful on his engineering class because engineers are really good in solving problems and that is one advantage if you are an engineer.
So, kept it up and don't confused yourself! cheers!
Reply:Yes you can.
Reply:As long you have the skills. Post some open-sourced programs to the internet and show them to your potential boss.
Reply:You would have to prove that you know how to program for most software engineering jobs. The good thing about programming is that anyone can try it and do it on their own computer. If you are not comfortable with it, then you may have a hard time with the interview. You also may want to take an algorithms class if you never did.
Reply:If you were really convincing...
Reply:Yes. Seems like you could get a beginners position writing C or Java. You just need to be willing to learn, and be motivated.
A lot of employeers are looking for motivated beginners.
Reply:read a couple of programing books and yes you can. I have friend's who did just that.
