Im a commerce graduate looking to do a programming job... please help?

Im a final year commerce student with 3 more months before i finish my course. I want to get into a career in programming. I have learnt C++ in school and im familiar with OOP concepts. Can someone tell me what more i should do to get a programming job. Someone suggested to me that i should start with a testing job and then try and get into programming. What do u think? Should i do that or should i do some programming course like C# or something like that? I am looking for something that can be completed in 3 months because ill finish my degree by then and im looking to take a break for a month or so. So if i do some course longer that 2-3 months it will get interrupted. Oh, and if u could tell me some good places to do these courses in chennai that would be great. Thanks in advance
